A company brain is your company's own knowledge, connected in one place, that your AI systems read from. Your docs, Slack threads, Notion pages, GitHub repos and email feed it. Agents and workflows answer from it. It is the proprietary part of proprietary AI, and you own it.

What a company brain is not

It is not a model you train. It is not a wiki nobody opens. It is not a chatbot bolted onto a folder of PDFs. MIT researchers say it plainly: "While AI capabilities are becoming more accessible, proprietary data is much harder to develop." (MIT Sloan, October 13, 2026) Anyone can rent the same model. Nobody can rent your context.

Why most companies need one

Buyers describe the same mess. "Most companies have context scattered across wikis, Slack, Google Docs." And "Slack is a black hole of your enterprise data and tribal knowledge." (Hacker News comments, one and two) Put an AI on top of that and it answers from the mess. Clean the knowledge first, then connect the AI.

What proprietary AI means for a company

Search results for this term mostly cover models. SmartDev defines proprietary AI as "software or models owned and controlled by an organization" (source). For most companies, the model is not where the advantage sits. The advantage is the context the model reads. Your pricing rules, your customers' history, your exceptions, your compliance limits. That is your company brain.

Build if AI is your product. Buy a tool if you need one narrow job and your data already lives in it. Use a partner when you want the brain and the systems working now, without a hiring round.

Who builds proprietary AI for you

AY Automate does. We set up your company brain, then ship the systems on top as an ongoing partnership. We don't scope projects. An engineer stays on your team to run it. It is built for companies that want AI systems running across the business. For one small task, a tool is the better buy.

Shipped systems

  • AmbryHill is an aerospace ERP company under FAA, ITAR and AS9100 rules. We turned the whole database into an agent anyone can ask. Each person sees only what they are allowed to touch.
  • Portless is a US ecommerce fulfillment company. Agents do pre-call research, update the CRM and score leads. Research time per prospect fell and the team's conversion rate rose.
  • Pilote EMC is a French construction company. We built its AI ops cockpit, and it captured roughly 1.3M euros in revenue over six months, largely from customers who found it through AI search tools like ChatGPT.

"The team is super fast - sometimes we had to slow them down. We managed to scale the company without investing into hiring."

Elie Salame, COO, Adstronaut.io

"Fantastic and quite hassle-free. Watch the end-of-day review, give a couple of points of feedback, and it would be fixed the next day."

Connor Miller, Systems Engineer / Founder, Uniworx

How it works

  1. Connect. Slack, Notion, GitHub, docs and email feed the brain.
  2. Clean. We sort and de-duplicate, and we flag old or conflicting pages before the AI sees them.
  3. Scope. Each person sees only what they are allowed to see.
  4. Run. Support agents and workflows read the brain, and your next system starts with your context in place.

FAQ

Which companies develop proprietary AI solutions?

Large vendors build models. For your own data, AY Automate builds the company brain and the AI systems on it. Set up in hours, from $3K a month, cancel anytime.

What is a company brain?

It is your docs, chats and tools connected in one place, cleaned and scoped by person, for AI systems to read from. It is the part of proprietary AI that belongs to you.

Do I have to train a model?

No. Most of the value is the context a model reads. A company brain gives any model your rules, history and exceptions without training a new one.

Should I build or buy?

Build if AI is your product. Buy a tool for one narrow job. Use a partner to get the brain and the systems running without a hiring round.

What if it does not work out?

Cancel anytime. A 90-day replacement guarantee also applies.

Can everyone see everything in it?

No. At AmbryHill, each person gets their own scope. They can see, and build reports and charts from, only what they are allowed to touch.
