Fleet
Fleet
A group of agents running together, each with a scoped role, under one coordinator
✓ Building BlocksWhat is a Fleet
A fleet is a group of agents, usually one orchestrator plus several worker agents, operating together on related work. None of them share a context window, each is a separate session or process, so a fleet coordinates through something external instead: shared tracking files, a task board, lock files, handoff notes, the same mechanisms a distributed human team would use.
This is what lets total work scale past the limit of a single agent's context: instead of one very long session trying to hold an entire project's state, the project's state lives in files on disk that any fleet member can read, while each agent's own context stays scoped to whatever role it currently holds.
A fleet is not automatically the right approach, coordination itself costs time and adds failure modes, like two agents editing the same file, that a single agent never has to worry about. It earns its complexity on work that is genuinely parallelizable or too large for one session, not on tasks a single well-scoped agent could finish directly.
