A packaged bundle of skills, agents, hooks, and commands installed as one unit
✓ Building BlocksWhat is a Plugin
A plugin is a packaged bundle of related capabilities: it can contain skills, hooks, slash commands, and agent definitions, distributed and installed together as one unit. Where a single skill covers one teachable capability, a plugin is the wrapper that groups several related ones so a team can share, version, and update them as a set.
The value of a plugin is distribution and consistency. A team building a house style for code review, deployment, and documentation can ship all three as hooks, commands, and skills inside one plugin, rather than asking every developer to assemble the same pieces by hand. Installing the plugin installs the whole set at a known version.
A plugin is not itself a capability the model reasons about directly, it is packaging. The actual work still happens through the skills, hooks, and commands inside it. Updating a plugin updates everything it bundles at once, which is the tradeoff against a loose collection of individually maintained skills.
Build your own agent skills, not just prompts.
